Bizarre news, reported in the Boston Globe:
Police have caught a man they suspect of breaking into a Harvard professor’s suburban Boston home, but they are still looking for some missing items — including a Nobel Prize. Police tell the Boston Herald that Stephen Beaulieu of Skowhegan, Maine broke into the Arlington home of Roy Glauber last month while the 2005 Nobel Prize for physics winner was away….
Many years elapsed between Roy’s pioneering physics work and his being awarded the Ig Nobel Prize in 2005 (see some of our reports about it, and see Dave Brooks’s report). During part of that middle period — for ten years of it — Roy humbly swept paper airplanes from the floor at the Ig Nobel Prize ceremony. He has continued his sweeping tradition (as can be seen in this photo taken at the 2009 ceremony).
We all hope Roy’s prize is found and returned to him soon.
