Strange journals scam? UPDATE #2

And a still bit more more info about the mysterious journals publisher that presents old studies as if they are new. (See previous post for Update #1, and see the December 22, 2009 post for the original story.)

Several weeks ago we emailed the contact address Scientific Research Publishing listed on their web site. The site lists very little info about itself. A few days, January 23, later came this reply:

Your message has been received, how may I help you? I am traveling outside of US, please use email to contact with me, or I can call you if needed. Thanks.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
Best Regards
Barry Zhou, Ph.D.
President, Scientific Research Publishing

That same day we sent him this message:

I have seen the issue of Psychology ( and am puzzled by it. All its articles have been previously published in other journals, some almost a decade ago. What is the purpose (or mission, if you will) of the journal, and why do those authors want to republish their articles in a new journal?
Ps. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you, too!

As of January 6, 2010, there has been no further reply. And now the contents of that new journal — the one called Psychology — seem to have been removed from the web site. (We did download a copy prior to that removal,)

The journal’s web site still says “The journal publishes original papers”.
