Professor Lipscomb will be the theme of the July/August of the Annals of Improbable Research.
Last month brought the unhappy news that Professor William Lipscomb (aka “Colonel Lipscomb), one of the greatest Improbable Researchers, had passed away.
If you have a personal story about him, we would love to hear it, and maybe include it in that issue. For the magazine, we’re looking for stories that are true, brief, and that will convey a sense of some of the the unique Lipscomb makes-people-laugh-then-think sensibility,
We need to receive the Bill stories by June 30, if they are to (maybe) make it into print. Please send your story to <marca@improbablecom.wpcomstaging.com>. Thanks!
NOTE: A memorial event for Professor Lipscomb is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, at Harvard; we will present more details of that as plans progress. This year’s Ig Nobel Prize ceremony, on Thursday night, September 29, will include a brief tribute to The Colonel, who for nearly two decades was one of the ceremony’s greatest stars.)
