Pratt on Recta-tude

Investigator Stephen Pratt writes:

I was a bit disturbed to read (in mini-AIR 2010-02): “Dr. Beatrice Golomb will discuss objects she has found in patients’ rectums”.

I admit that I have rarely, if ever, thought before of more than one rectum at a time but surely recta would be the more ‘elegant’ way to form the plural?
