Psychological breakthrough at U. Nottingham

A breakthrough discovery has occurred in the field of psychology. It was announced in a January 12, 2006 press release issued by the University of Nottingham:

Mental toughness helps resist bullying

Mentally tough individuals report less bullying at work and show less mental distress, research by experts at The University of Nottingham has shown….
Dr [Iain] Coyne said: ?Mentally tough individuals tend to perceive stressors (such as bullying) as opportunities and will persist in the face of such threats. They tend to be confident and to feel that they are in control of their work environment. Given this they are likely to have some resistance to the effects of the stressor.?
