There are no photographs ? only references to photographs ? in Sontag?s book. I will make this a little easier for the reader. Here are the two Fenton photographs taken “from the same tripod position.” I gave them the names ? “OFF” and “ON” ? the-photograph-with-cannonballs-off-the-road and the-photograph-with-cannonballs-on-the-road.
Investigator Errol Morris analyzes, perhaps to the death, two photographs. Cannonballs figure prominently in them, and in his analysis. The words and the photos appear in the September 25, 2007 issue of The New York Times.
