Fingerprint Art (Pig)

Unexpected art from the overlooked science of dactyloscopy

by Stephen Drew, AIR staff

The Annals of Improbable Research (AIR) is proud to present the world's first look (other than by visitors to the Cologne Criminal Police Headquarters) at the magnificent fingerprint art of Martin Ehses. The originals are on display in Germany at the Deactyloscopy Deprartment of the Cologne Criminal Police Headquarters. The very first of these appeared on the back cover of the May/June 2002 (vol. 8, no. 3) issue of AIR.

The artwork below is yet another of Martin Ehses's masterworks. Altogether, including the AIR back cover mentioned above, the series includes art on the theme of fish, bananas, devil, pig, pirate, roses, snowdrop flowers, and xmas tree.

(Thanks to Mark Benecke for bringing this to our attention.)
