The theme of this year’s Ig Nobel Prize ceremony, on September 3, will be FUNGI.
Each year there is a new theme. The theme does not necessarily apply to the new Ig Nobel Prize winners — rather it is a springboard for opera songs and other interstitial parts of the ceremony.
The photo you see here shows Elio Schaechter with a giant wanna-be mushroom. Schaechter was one of the world’s great admirers, students, and scholars of fungi.
