I’m Shikhara Bhat, a theoretical evolutionary ecologist. I’m currently a PhD student at the University of Mainz in Germany, where I am using mathematical models to understand why different organisms age at different rates, and why some species, such as Hydra, appear not to age at all. Some people focus on growing their CV through the course of a PhD, while others prioritise growing their professional networks; I’ve elected to grow my hair.
