Specificity in a scientific report

The very title of this new scientific study illustrates the careful approach good scientists try to take: making claims ONLY about what they have observed, and making NO claims about things a smidgen beyond what they are fairly sure they have actually seen. The study is:

Shorter Anogenital Distance Predicts Poorer Semen Quality in Young Men in Rochester, New York,” Jaime Mendiola, Richard W. Stahlhut, Niels Jørgensen, Fan Liu, Shanna H. Swan, Environmental Health Perspectives, published online March 4, 2011.

(Thanks to investigator Henriette Baume for bringing this to our attention.)
