If you’re in or near Pittsburgh, come to the Improbable talk tonight (here’s a campus map). The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports:
Marc Abrahams, the man behind the annual “Ig Nobel Awards” for unusual and often humorous scientific discoveries, will speak in a free lecture at 6:30 tonight in lecture hall 7500 of Wean Hall, Carnegie Mellon University. (The building, according to one observer, “holds the world record for most bottle caps stuck in holes in a building.”)
The event is the Hank “Suz-Chi” Wan Memorial Lecture held by the School of Computer Science. Mr. Abrahams is editor and co-founder of the science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research and its Web site, http://www.improbablecom.wpcomstaging.com, and TV series.
